PUNXSUTAWNEY – With some brides scrambling to get married on July 7 (07-07-07), the day being considered perhaps the luckiest wedding day in 100 years, other couples are banking on planning their day around a furry friend.
For the four couples who plan to say, “I do,” on Groundhog Day, they will always have an easy time remembering their wedding day as they get married at the civic center complex in Punxsutawney.
One of this year’s couples actually met at a past Groundhog Day.
Each had come to Groundhog Day as the only member of their groundhog clubs. Hey met, and now they’re planning to be united in holy “marmot”romony.
The weddings happen Friday from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. in the civic center complex.
Punxsutawney Mayor John Hallman will preside over the nuptials, which will be witnessed by a member of the Inner Circle.
