First Quarter Outburst Propels Lady Tide Over Brockway 55-40

CURWENSVILLE—-The Brockway Lady Rovers took a quick 3-0 lead on Sasha Fields three pointer to start the game. Then, it was simply over, as Curwensville went on a 17-0 run to take a twelve point first quarter bulge into the second, 19-7.

The Lady Tide didn’t stop there either, outscoring Brockway 17-7 in the second to take a commanding 36-14 lead at the halfway point. At the half seniors Jackie White and Dani Struble had double figures for Curwensville scoring 12 and 11 points respectively.

Brockway did outscore the Lady Tide in the second half 26-19 as coach Vic Gearhart emptied his entire bench most of the final two quarters. With the 55-40 victory the Lady Tide improved to 14-3 on the season. They have now won nine straight and 13 of their last 15 games.

Struble once again lead Curwensville with 19, while White had 14 and junior Holly Fink scored 8.

Brockway was led by Vicky Bennett with 12 and Kassandra Shires with 11. The Lady Rovers record dipped to 1-16.

Curwensville, who plays at Dubois Central Catholic on Tuesday night, was 11 for 13 from the charity strip.

The Lady Tide junior varsity won the evenings first contest 38-28.
