Cause of Quality Inn Fire Released

DUBOIS – The cause of the fire that occurred at the Quality Inn, DuBois was released after a state police fire marshal investigation.

According to that report, the fire originated in the ceiling area of a storage room. The cause of the fire was an overheated recessed light.

The fire has been ruled as accidental.

The total estimated damage to the hotel is $1 million. The fire marshal was assisted at the scene by members of the Oklahoma and Sandy Township Volunteer Fire Departments.

Sandy Township units responded to the alarm at 9:22 a.m. Tuesday. Other units responding to the fire or on stand-by were from Brockway, the City of DuBois, Brady, Sykesville, Falls Creek, Rockton, Clearfield, Penfield and Reynoldsville. DuSan Ambulance and the DuBois Chapter of the American Red Cross also responded tot he scene.
