ERIE – The southbound lanes of Interstate 79 are closed between the McKean and Edinboro exits. The interstate was closed following an accident due to whiteout conditions. The interstate is expected to reopen late Thursday afternoon.
I-90 is closed both eastbound and westbound between the Wesleyville Exit (Route 430) and the Harborcreek Exit (Route 531). A multi-vehicle accident due to whiteout conditions caused the closure.
PennDOT Erie County Maintenance crews are placing Variable Message signs to alert motorists of the closure and the detour. No information is available on when the interstate will re-open.
