No Arrests in Decatur Township Gun Bluff

PHILIPSBURG – It was a scary situation in Decatur Township Sunday afternoon, and one that required the police to get involved.

A 48-year-old Philipsburg man was riding his all-terrain vehicle with his wife in a wooded area near Baughman Cemetery Road in Decatur Township when a 50-year-old Osceola Mills man reportedly ran out from the tree line yelling at him.

The Philipsburg man stopped his ATV and told the Osceola Mills man he had a gun. The Osceola Mills man, in turn, told the Philipsburg man that he had a gun and reached under his jacket to pull out something silver.

The Philipsburg man drove away and looked back to see the Osceola Mills man falling to the ground and pointing his hands at him in a way that made him believe the other man had a gun.

After an investigation, police learned that the Osceola Mills man only had a set of multi-use pliers.

State police at Clearfield determined that the case was unfounded, and no arrests were made.
