Man Who Fled Police Waives Hearing

CLEARFIELD – A man who tried to lose the police by turning out his lights waived his right to a preliminary hearing Wednesday. He remains in Clearfield County Jail in lieu of $10,000 bail.

Court documents report that a state trooper and a Lawrence Township officer were on patrol Dec. 30 at about 2:25 a.m. as part of a driving under the influence patrol. The police were behind a car, and the vehicle failed to use a turn signal when turning off of state Route 253 in Woodward Township.

The driver of the car, 27-year-old Michael L. Fyock of Coalport, turned off his headlights and drove away from the police. He then parked and fled on foot, according to reports.

One passenger in the vehicle became disorderly with police, causing the trooper to have to mace him. Another passenger led a police officer on a short foot chase.

Fyock reportedly entered an apartment building, locking himself inside.

Police later learned that Fyock was driving the vehicle while under suspension.

In total, he faces counts of fleeing or attempting to elude police, disorderly conduct and driving without lights to avoid identification or arrest.
