County Releases Annual List of Salaried Positions’ and Elected Officials’ Wages

CLEARFIELD – The Clearfield County Commissioners went through the yearly motions of approving salaries for elected and salaried county positions on Tuesday.

County Commissioner Mike Lytle objected to a number of pay raises, which were above the 3-percent increase fort the other employees, calling them arbitrary.

“I think it’s unfair not to consider all employees,” said Lytle.

Newly-elected Commissioner Chairman Rex Read said that in some instances, there were supervisors making less than the people they were supervising. Read also said that workers are informally evaluated every day they work.

County Commissioner Mark McCracken said that for some of the raises, it was due to an increase in responsibility that certain positions took on with the new election equipment and added responsibilities in the future. In particular, these positions included the position of chief Clerk, director of management information systems, director of voter registration and the director of elections.

“I thought it would be good to reward them for the extra duties they took on,” said McCracken.

Other position raises that Lytle contended were the president judge’s judicial secretary, the director of adult probation, the director of the domestic relations office and the supervisor of juvenile probation.
