NEW INFO: DuBois Bank Robbed Wednesday

DUBOIS – DuBois City Police are looking for a man in connection with the Wednesday morning robbery of a DuBois bank branch.

Police were first called to First Commonwealth Bank at 5 N. Main St. at 10:09 a.m. for a robbery in progress. When they arrived, they learned that a man demanded money and then left the bank on foot.

The man is believed to be white but could be Hispanic. Police also said he had a “noticeable Hispanic accent.” The man is about 35 or 40 years of age, standing about 5 feet, 6 inches tall or 5 feet, 7 inches tall. He is said to weigh about 160 to 170 pounds.

The man could have what was described as a “salt-and-pepper” goatee or might not have shaved in the past few days.

At the time of the robbery he was wearing a dark brown jacket and a Cleveland Browns ball cap. He was also wearing sunglasses, black gloves and dark shoes.

When the man entered the bank, he approached one teller with a note, and the teller complied, giving the man money. He then went to a second teller for more money; that teller also complied.

When the man left the bank, witnesses said he ran west on West Long Avenue and then turned south on Shaffer Alley.

Numerous officers from DuBois City and Sandy Township were canvassing the area. Officers also obtained surveillance videos from the bank that are being enhanced.

DuBois City Police said they will release an image of the suspect as soon as possible.

Anyone who has information that might aid police in their investigation should call the station at 371-2323 or Clearfield County Control at 765-1533.
