DUBOIS – Habitat For Humanity of Clearfield County is busy preparing for its annual meeting next month and construction on its next home in DuBois, board members learned at a recent meeting.
The annual session, set for Jan. 22 at the Clearfield County Career and Technology Center, will provide a review of 2006 and elect board members in an attempt to bring the governing body to its full complement of 18 members, President John Farr said.
The public is invited to attend to volunteer for committees, including family selection, fundraising and others and to be nominated to the board of directors.
“We are, thankfully, growing and need more people and to carry out our plans. We are hoping for a cross section of locations and interests,” he noted.
Work on the current project, a home on Clay Street in Clearfield’s East End, is rapidly progressing toward completion. The siding was finished and basement floor poured last week and the heating system, along with other interior features, will soon be installed.
The DuBois home, the group’s 10th project, will be located on Pifer Street and will be largely supported by a consortium of DuBois area churches lead by the Tri-County Church of God. Last week, a steering committee of representatives met and established work groups for fundraising and family selection, which Farr will chair.
Also this month, Farr said he expects to have the existing structure on the site razed with the help of a grant from state Rep. Dan Surra , D-75 of Kersey. The lot was donated by Central Pennsylvania Community Action.
