Senior Centers Donate Ornaments for Commonwealth Christmas Tree

HARRISBURG – Several Clearfield County seniors helped to make the commonwealth’s Christmas a little more cheery this year.

Seniors at the Clearfield, DuBois and Karthaus senior centers took part in donating some of hundreds of ornaments that came from senior centers across the state this year.

Secretary of Aging Nora Dowd Eisenhower expressed her appreciation to members of senior centers, saying the ornaments would decorate the Capitol Christmas tree.

“Each year we get a delightful array of ornaments that showcase the talent and creativity of Pennsylvania’s older adults,” said Eisenhower.

“Many centers send letters along with the ornaments, mentioning how proud they are to contribute to the tree.”

This year, 64 centers donated decorations that resulted in nearly 500 ornaments being displayed on the tree that will stand in the Capitol Rotunda through early January.

“We are honored to receive their donations,” Eisenhower said, “and thank them for the generous contribution of their time and talent.”
