CLEARFIELD – A Vandergrift resident accused of stealing money from a pop machine in Clearfield waived his right to a preliminary hearing on Wednesday.
The affidavit of probable cause states that Kelly Andrew Booher, 42, was seen at 4:43 a.m. in front of Clearfield Fire Station Co. 1 on East Cherry Street. Clearfield Borough Police officer Vince McGinnis saw Booher run from the area of the soda machine and enter a white Chevy Tracker. The vehicle then took off. At one point Booher failed to stop for a flashing red light as well.
Police caught up to Booher on East Market Street. When asked why he ran away, Booher reportedly gave no response, and was evasive to questioning throughout the stop. McGinnis had the fire station searched and it was found that a door at the station had a hinge peg halfway removed.
Booher was placed under arrest. During the pat-down, 60 $1 bills were discovered in a coat pocket. During a search of Booher’s vehicle police found 28 soda/vending machine keys under the front seat as well as $114.60 in change in a bag.
Booher is free on posted bail.
