DuBois Airport Hits Passenger Milestone, Announces Web Redesign

FALLS CREEK – The DuBois Regional Airport just hit the 7,000 mark.

So far in 2006, 7,000 people have flown via US Airways Express, operated by Mesa Airlines out of the DuBois Regional Airport.

That’s big news for an airport that just saw a decrease in the number of flights at the beginning of this month. For all of 2005, 10,349 passengers were on an incoming flight at the airport.

At the end of September, 6,475 passengers were on incoming flights at DuBois. At the same time last year, 8,007 passengers had done the same.

Even with the change in Mesa’s schedule, Denise Trunzo, marketing director, said she is seeing greater numbers of passengers on each flight.
“It’s a difficult time for commuter airports,” Paul Sekula, DuBois-Jefferson Regional Airport Authority chairman, said, countering with the fact that she thought that larger airports were beginning to see things improve and that should also have an effect on smaller facilities.

DuBois Regional Airport has set a goal of 10,000 inbound passengers in 2006.

Trunzo said the airport’s Web site is being revamped, and changes will be seen in the future.
