Area Service Provider, Administration Charged with Not Having Workers’ Compensation Insurance

DUBOIS – A DuBois-based service provider and two members of its administration found themselves before Magisterial District Judge Patrick Ford on Friday.

Helping Hands, Caring Hearts Inc., Linda Chittester, and Johnnie Chittester all face 386 misdemeanor counts of failing to obtain workers’ compensation insurance or obtaining an exemption to act as a self-insurer. In exchange for waiving the misdemeanor charges through to court, felony charges were dropped.

The affidavit alleges that the company did have that insurance from June 21, 2004 through August 30, 2004, as well from December 17, 2004 through October 27, 2005.

Both Chittester’s are named as the responsible agents for obtaining and keeping up the insurance. Both are free on $10,000 unsecured bail.

Anymore specific details involving the case were sparse.

According to the Clearfield County Resource Directory, Helping Hands, Caring Hearts Inc. “provides trained volunteers to assist financially-challenged older adults and home-bounds in the Clearfield County area. Also provides respite for caregivers and errand services.”
