Some Relief on Sandy Township Sewer Rates

DUBOIS – It might seem like a drop in the bucket for some, but for those Sandy Township residents on low or fixed incomes, it is a welcome change.

In a 3-0 vote (Jim Jeffers and Ray Anderson, supervisors, were absent), the supervisors approved lowering the minimum quarterly allowance and minimum monthly charge for sanitary sewer service.

The new allowance will be 4,000 gallons per quarter for both residential and non-residential customers at a quarterly rate of $47.60.

Additional usage will be billed in 1,000-gallon incriments at $11.92 per 1,000 gallons.

For those on un-metered water sources, rates will be as follows: one person household, $65; two-person, $97.50; three-person, $130; and four or more people and non-residential customers, $162.50.

The rates do not include a monthly sewage maintenance fee of $12.25 for all customers.

The rates are retroactive to July 1.
