Traffic Changes on the Way for Centre County I-80 Project

CLEARFIELD – With PennDOT’s Interstate 80 job at Milesburg nearing completion, motorists will encounter traffic pattern changes on Monday.

The eastbound off ramp at the Milesburg/158 exit will be closed through the day. Exiting traffic will be directed to the Bellefonte/161 exit, onto I-80 westbound and back to the Milesburg exit. The eastbound on-ramp will remain open.

Signs and traffic control will be in place to aid motorists. PennDOT expects all eastbound traffic to be on the newly constructed eastbound travel lane by nightfall. This will eliminate the eastbound crossover to the westbound lane.

Through the rest of the week, crews will remove barrier in the westbound lanes and replace with barrels, keeping the passing lane closed for approximately two weeks. The westbound climbing lane will be closed between exit 158 and mile marker 152. Slowed traffic and lengthy delays are likely.

All work is weather-dependent.

The contractor on the $43.3 million project is Glenn O. Hawbaker Inc. of State College.

PennDOT reminds drivers to remain alert and cautious through this area, obey posted speed limits and to always buckle up.
