Clearfield Hospital Auxiliary Plans Charity Ball

CLEARFIELD – Plans are under way for the 96th annual Clearfield Hospital Auxiliary Charity Ball, slated for Dec. 2 at the Clearfield-Curwensville Country Club.

The event begins at 6 p.m. with a social hour featuring local singer and saxophone player Brennan Bell of Curwensville; a sit-down dinner begins at 7 p.m.

A dance will follow dinner and feature the sounds of local band Harmonious Funk.

Dress for the event is formal, with black-tie optional. Tickets are $75 per person and may be reserved by calling Mary Sue Diehl, auxiliary president, at 765-3091.

Proceeds from the charity ball benefit Clearfield Hospital. In addition to ticket sales, corporate sponsorships to offset event costs are also appreciated, Diehl said.

For example, a business may choose to sponsor entertainment or hors d’oeuvres during the social hour.

Though invitations are mailed to previous attendees, Diehl emphasized that the public is encouraged to attend.

“The charity ball supports a valuable local resource, Clearfield Hospital. We welcome all community members to join us for this year’s Charity Ball … we would be pleased to add those interested to our invitation list,” Diehl noted.

Deadline for reservations is Nov. 10.

The Clearfield Hospital Auxiliary’s purpose is to support programs and services of Clearfield Hospital. It fulfills that mission through fundraisers such as the charity ball and an annual basket bingo. The auxiliary also operates the hospital’s gift shop, The Cottage, as well as the Lifeline personal response and support service.

Examples of contributions made by the auxiliary during its 100-year history include:
• $50,000 to offset costs associated with the current obstetrics unit renovation project;
• $300,000 pledge to the Heart of Our Valley capital campaign;
• $150,000 for lobby renovations;
• $10,000 for creation of a hospice room;
• $270,000 for renovations of the first floor; and
• $2,000 for wheelchairs.
