Hearing Continued for Man Accused of Pointing Gun at Wife, Child

CLEARFIELD – A Goshen Township man accused of pointing a gun at his wife, daughter, and another man had his case continued for one week on Wednesday.

Donald Gray Belton, 49, is charged with three counts of aggravated assault, three counts of terroristic threats, three counts of simple assault, three counts of recklessly endangering another person, and three counts of harassment.

The charges stem from an incident that occurred on Sept. 30, around 7:30 p.m. The affidavit of probable cause stated that Donald and another man became involved in a verbal dispute over domestic issues involving Donald’s wife.

The man went to another room to get his clothes and when he came out Donald allegedly pointed a shotgun at the man. The man got the shotgun away from Belton, and Belton’s son unloaded three live rounds from the gun.

At some point here, a fist-fight was alleged to have broken out. Belton then got another gun, according to the affidavit, and pointed it at his wife. The daughter told police she jumped in front of her father, and he stopped pointing at them. They then left.

Belton is being held in Clearfield County Jail in lieu of $50,000 straight bail.
