Man Taken into Custody at School After Firing Gun at Wife

MAHAFFEY – A Mahaffey man got into an argument with his wife Tuesday afternoon, a gun was fired, and state police officers picked him up at an area school a short time later.

State police at Punxsutawney report that Stephen A. King, 32, argued with his wife at about 12:15 p.m. Tuesday, allegedly firing two rounds from a handgun. King is also accused of striking his wife. 

After the argument, King went to two area schools to pick up the couple’s children. Troopers took King into custody at an unnamed elementary school.

At the time of his arrest, he was unarmed, and troopers reported that King was arrested without incident.

Investigators recovered a weapon near King’s home after he was in custody.

King was arraigned Tuesday on counts of simple assault, reckless endangerment, harassment and disorderly conduct.
