Air Force Flyover to Precede Penn State Game

University Park, Pa. – Immediately prior to the Penn State vs. Northwestern football game at 3:30 p.m on Saturday, September 30th, a C-17 US Air Force Globemaster will fly over Beaver Stadium, approaching from south to north.

The pilot of the C-17 will be USAF Col. Michael Speer, a 1984 graduate of Penn State.

According to the U.S. Air Force Web site, the C-17 Globemaster III is the newest, most flexible cargo aircraft to enter the airlift force. The C-17 is capable of rapid strategic delivery of troops and all types of cargo to main operating bases or directly to forward bases in the deployment area. The aircraft can perform tactical airlift and airdrop missions and can also transport litters and ambulatory patients during aeromedical evacuations when required.
