Plenty to do at Pet Expo

CLEARFIELD – The Mountain Laurel Kennel Club’s third annual Pet Expo, set for Oct. 14 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Expo II in the Clearfield Driving Park, promises a day of education and activities for people and their pets.

The expo will have a huge day planned with speakers, rescue and welfare groups, vendors, demonstrations and lots of fun for both humans and animals. There will be Canine Good Citizen and Therapy Dog testing and we’re especially excited about the Panorama of Purebreds, which will feature nearly 30 breeds of dogs, said MLKC President Geremy Kephart.

Admission is $1 while children 5 and younger are admitted free. Animals are welcome but must be secured (dogs on a leash) and vaccinations and licenses must be current. If Flexi leads are used, they must be clamped at no more than six feet.

The day’s events include:

* 11 a.m. – Panorama of Purebreds. Following the formal presentation of breeds, the dogs and their owners will be available for a meet and greet. Rescued dogs available for adoption will also be introduced.

* 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. – Canine Good Citizen and Therapy Dog certification. $10 for one test, $15 for both. Dogs must be at least one year old and pass the CGC test before taking the TDI exam. Bring leash, plain buckle collar or harness and dog’s comb or brush. For more information, visit www.tdi-dog.org
