One Killed, Two Injured in Buggy-Van Crash

REYNOLDSVILLE – An infant was killed, and two adults had to be flown from the scene via medical helicopter following an accident Saturday in Winslow Township, Jefferson County.

Jake Yoder, 20, of DuBois was operating a horse and buggy on Reeds Dam Road when he attempted to enter onto state Route 2007. In doing so, police report that Yoder traveled into the path of a minivan operated by Cory O’Schenic, 30, of Reynoldsville.

Yoder and two other passengers in the buggy were ejected in the 7:40 p.m. accident Saturday.

Yoder and a passenger in the vehicle, Esther Yoder, 23, were flown to Altoona Regional Health System with moderate to severe injuries. An infant in the buggy was killed in the crash.

Esther Yoder is listed in critical condition Monday at Altoona. No information was available for Jake Yoder, but police reported that he was in stable condition Sunday.

O’Schenic was not injured in the accident.
