Lawrence Township Supervisors Approve Purchase of Aerial Truck

CLEARFIELD – The Lawrence Township Supervisors conditionally approved a bid for a new aerial truck for the Lawrence Township Fire Company.

The bid came from Aerial Apparatus at $521,622.

“We knew about where it was going to be,” said Ed Brown, supervisor.

The bid still needs to be reviewed by the fire company, the supervisors and the township’s solicitor Jim Naddeo.

“I think they’ve  been real astute with taxpayer money to replace the 1972 truck,” said Brown.

The refurbished truck will replace the fire company’s current 1972 truck. Brown said because that truck is as old as it is, it is hard to get replacement parts for it.

Lawrence Township Fire Chief Josh Quigley noted that the truck will be a 75-foot platform truck with an aerial scope.

It will take nine months from the date given to start for the truck to be finished, according to Quigley.

Quigley also noted that everyone in his fire company is trained on the aerial, and they are one of three companies in the county so trained.
