STRONGSTOWN, PA- Jim Britton of Johnstown won his first ever Hugill Sales and Service Street Stock feature on Tire Express and Townsend Gas and Oil Trophy night at Dog Hollow Speedway while Jesse Laughard of Vintondale in the Texas Auto Ranch Four Cylinder Sidewinders.

Repeat winners included Matt Gaston of Punxsutawney in the super late models, Gary Stahl of Johnstown in the Townsend Gas and Oil Steel Block Late Models and John Mazey of Bolivar in the Brush Valley Tire Pure Stocks.

Cody Schultz beat Dave Peterman to the first turn and was setting the pace in the super late model feature. As he was leading the way the and held off first Peterman, then Bobby Stokes and Chad McClellan then Matt Gaston moved to second and he started to challenge the Hyde driver. Cautions on laps 19, 20 and 21 gave Gaston more chances and on lap 20, as another spin took place in turn two, Kevin Smyers threw the checked with a caution, but it was too late, as Gaston had moved past Schultz off the second turn and took his second straight win. Schultz was second, Steve Everhart was third, Johnny Kuzemchak was fourth and Robby Garlock was fifth. Heat wins went to Chad McClellan and Bobby Stokes.

Clate Copeman took the lead to start the steel block late model feature with Jeff Weakland in second and Shawn \”Sheetz\”  McGarvey third. On lap three McGarvey went to the outside of Copeman off the second turn and took the lead. He was setting the pace with Gary Stahl now in second and Chris Rhodes in third. The race was continuing with Stahl trying to find a lane past McGarvey and he found it when McGarvey had a flat on the right front. Stahl assumed the lead and held off Rhodes the rest of the way for his second win of the year. Rhodes, Rance Garlock, Randy Smithly and Yvette Hahn-Sell completed the top five. Jeff Compton, Shawn McGarvey and Gary Stahl won the heats.

Jim Britton beat Ron Hanna to the first turn at the start of the street stock feature with Ray Charles, Mike Laughard, Randy Campbell and Nick Goss pursuing the leader. On lap nine Matt Hugill, using the outside groove, worked his way to fifth and was reeling in the leaders then he moved to fourth and was battling for second with Laughard and Charles.

They were three wide with Hugill using the low side through the third and fourth turns, but all three cars bumped with Hugill getting the worst of it. He was turned sideways into a tire in the infield and flipped the #65H. He wasn\’t hurt, but the car suffered a lot of damage. The last two laps saw Britton continuing to lead with Laughard and Goss challenging for the lead, but Britton held on to win. The top five were: Britton, Laughard, Goss, Andy Burns and Scott Good. Heat wins went to Josh Jacoby and Mike Laughard.

The winner of the pure stock feature was decided on the last lap, as \”Crazy\” John Mazey took the lead at the start with Marshall Detwiler in second and Gary Furman in third. As the race continued Mazey had more company, as 12th place starter Tyler Hite moved to second on lap five and on lap six he took the lead. Hite set the pace for the next six laps before Mazey had enough and regained the lead with an inside pass on the front stretch. Once he regained the lead Mazey was able to get the victory, his first since June 16. Hite, Detwiler, Furman and Tim Laughard completed the top five. Heat wins went to Pete Ivory and Tim Laughard won the heats.

Josh Westlake won the race into the first turn to start the four cylinder feature with Jesse Laughard in second and Mark Faught third. On lap three Laughard took the lead with Faught now in second. Faught took the lead on lap seven from Laughard who chased the new leader to the checkered flag but in the post race tech, Faught was disqualified and the win went to Laughard.
