Woman Pleads Guilty to Stealing Pain Patch

CLEARFIELD – Kandi K. Pollick,48, Olanta, pleaded guilty to taking a fentenyl patch from her work place before Magisterial District Judge Michael Rudella on Wednesday.

Pollick faced charges in relation to the theft of a fentenyl patch from Mountain Laurel Nursing and Rehabilitation Center while employed there.

The affidavit states that officers were called to the nursing home after an employee dropped the cover of her phone into Pollick’s purse. Upon gathering her cover the woman  discovered a pain patch, dated with the letter “v” on it in the purse.

A supervisor did a search of all purses and bags in the break room, but did not find the patch.

Pollick was eventually questioned. Pollick was reluctant to answer at first, and was reported to look to her union representative for answers. She was told that only she could answer the questions, as she was the only one who knew what happened.

Pollick then admitted to taking the patch on June 22. The patch was originally intended for a resident of the home, but Pollick pulled a switch and put a used patch on the resident, and kept the new one.

Pollick stated that the patch was for herself, though she never used it. Pollick also related to police that she had a prescription for this kind of pain patch.

According to the report, Pollick took the patch from her purse and threw it in the trash prior to the bags in the break room being searched. The patch was never found, however.

Pollack pleaded guilty to one count of theft by unlawful taking, and had one count of theft by unlawful taking and receiving stolen property dropped.

The judge fined Pollick $25 and ordered her to pay costs of $136.
