Wal-Mart Receives Bomb Threat

DUBOIS – Shoppers and at the Sandy Township Wal-Mart had to leave the store for several hours Tuesday after a bomb threat was called in.

The store, a 24-hour location, received a call just before 8:30 p.m., and the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency reported that the store was closed at that time and searched. No bomb was found.

“We just had a call, and then we followed protocol,” Sara Hummel, assistant store manager, said Wednesday morning.

PEMA reported that the incident was terminated at about 2:30 a.m. Wednesday. The store opened a short time after that.

No one was hurt in the incident.

Several state and federal agencies were notified as a result of the call, including the FBI; the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms; and the offices of the attorney general and Homeland Security.
