Frampton Keeps Crowd on Feet at Fair

CLEARFIELD – He has had a career that spanned four decades, and he brought all of the experience from those years to Clearfield Tuesday night.

Peter Frampton, the replacement act for Foreigner at the Clearfield County Fair, had fans on their feet as he played well-known tunes such as “Show Me the Way,” “Do You Feel Like We Do” and “Baby I Love Your Way.”

Frampton seemed to tease the crowd that bought their tickets months ago to see Foreigner, saying he would play a song just for Clearfield. “It’s something we don’t usually do. … It’s special for you.”

With that, he let loose with “Show Me The Way.”

Frampton also dusted off songs from The Beatles and Soundgarden and used his talkbox to express his appreciation to the crowd.

“I want to thank you for coming here today,” Frampton said through the piece of equipment that makes it sound as though a guitar is speaking. “It would have been a little lonely!”

After about one hour, Frampton left the stage but returned for an encore. He again showed why he has been called a guitar legend, closing out the night with “While My Guitar Gently Weeps.”
