Clearfield County Commissioners Open Bids for Hazmat Items

CLEARFIELD – The Clearfield County Commissioners took a step toward selling some of the property of the county’s hazardous materials unit on Tuesday. Bids were opened during the commissioners’ special meeting at the Clearfield County Fair. The sale comes six-to-seven months after the commissioners decommissioned the county hazmat unit. Currently the county subcontracts that service from Eagle Environmental of Milesburg.

“That has been working out very well,” said Clearfield County Commissioner of the agreement between the county and Eagle Environmental.

Bids were received from citizens as well as other nearby county organizations. Some bid on specific items while one, the Clarion County Office of Emergency Services bid $12,542.98 for the entire inventory.

Items up for bid included a testing kits, a 36-foot long Carmate trailer, and a 1996 Chevy Tahoe, among many other items.
