Area fairs win grant money

HARRISBURG – The Pennsylvania Fair Advisory Board has approved grants for both the Clearfield County and Harmony Grange fairs, according to state Rep. Camille “Bud” George, D-74 of Houtzdale.

“The Clearfield County Fair — which opens July 31 — was awarded a $2,625 grant, while the Harmony Grange Fair, which opens Sept. 19, won a $4,125 grant,” Rep. George said. “Both grants are to be used to improve the fairgrounds.”

The money is part of a $4 million commitment in the state’s 2006-07 budget to support county and community fairs. The remaining funds will be used to reimburse fairs for their operating expenses.
