Fink named new chief of Lawrence Township PD

CLEARFIELD – Meet the new boss.

Former Sgt. Jeffrey Fink of the Lawrence Township Police Department was named the new chief of the station at Tuesday night’s meeting of the township supervisors.

The appointment is retroactive, having gone into effect Saturday.

Chief Fink has 24 years of full-time service for Lawrence Township and worked part time for Clearfield Borough, Curwensville Borough and Lawrence Township before that.

Fink said his first order of business will be to organize the staff and “institute new procedures and policies.”

Many of those, Fink said, were recommended under a local government services study recently completed. Many of the recommendations from that study have already been put into place.

“Chief (Eric) Quigley has done a good job of laying a foundation for training,” Fink said. Quigley retired from the post of chief and had his final day in the position Friday.

Fink said he plans to continue that training and expand on it as well.

William “Fritz” Lawhead, Lawrence Township supervisor chairman, said, “(Fink) definitely has the experience to lead the department.”

Fink’s promotion was unanimously approved by the supervisors. Also approved Tuesday night was the promotion of Mark Brooks from patrolman to sergeant.
