Clearfield Legion Tops Curwensville

HEPBURNIA — Clearfield banged out 13 hits to support the four-hit pitching of Trey Wallace in a 10-3 Jefferson County Legion League win over Curwensville at Thorp Twins Memorial Field Sunday afternoon.

Wallace racked up 10 strikeouts in the complete game performance. He walked five.
The Chiefs were led by Brandon Evans with three singles and Adam Jury, Shane Davis, Wallace and Kyle Kline with two hits a piece. Jury\’s double was the lone extra base hit. Max Condon had a pair of RBIs, while Davis, Wallace and Kline had one a piece.
For Curwensville (4-11), Ben McGary had two singles and two RBIs and Steve Gaul had an RBI double.
John Sutika was the losing pitcher.
Clearfield, which trailed 3-1 before posting three runs in the fifth inning and six in the sixth, was coming off a 13-1 romp over Gortech Friday evening at DuBois.
Wallace also earned the win in that game with four innings of one-hit, shutout pitching. He struck out six and combined with Andrew Janocko and Drew Hipps for a two-hitter.
Condon had two hits and two runs batted in for the Chiefs. Janocko, Hipps and James Zimmerman also had two singles a piece. Davis drove in two runs.
Clearfield, 17-6 overall and 11-4 in the league, has locked up a top-three JCLL finish with three games to play. Punxsutawney has three losses and DuBois also has four. The Chiefs play at DuBois Tuesday in a key showdown and then host Reynoldsville Wednesday and Thursday.
