PennDot issues update for I-80 work

CLEARFIELD – Change is on the way for work and traffic patterns on Interstate 80 in Clearfield County.

District 2 of the state Department of Transportation announced the change Wednesday, saying that the switch will be made beginning Friday.

The right westbound lane between mile markers 107 and 104 will be closed through mid-September.

Concrete barriers will be in place and traffic will be reduced to one lane, with a 10-foot lane width restriction. Additional lane closures on I-80 between Clearfield and DuBois will occur in late summer and throughout the fall.

Concrete barriers currently in place westbound between mile markers 115 and 111 will be removed the week of July 10 . Traffic will resume using both lanes through that area.

Work throughout the 2006 construction season will move along I-80 in Clearfield County and includes patching and drainage activities. PennDOT expects the entire project to be complete by November, with all work weather-dependent.

HRI Inc. is the contractor on the $3.5 million project.

Updates on the I-80 work will continue to be provided as crews move to the next scheduled sections.

PennDOT thanks motorists for their patience during this work and reminds drivers to remain cautious, watch for stopped or slowed traffic, obey posted speed limits and to always buckle up.
