Thrills in the Hills comes to a close

CLEARFIELD – Raindrops fell throughout the weekend for Thrills in the Hills, but the comments from those attending the event were mostly positive.

Vendors had kind words as well, like those from Paul Dietzel who runs Steak On A Stick with Joey Catalano. “Obviously the weather was a challenge, but (Saturday) was fairly decent.”

He added, “We hope that they plan to do it again next year, and if so, we’ll be here.”

Whether there is a second annual Thrills in the Hills will be up to the Clearfield County Fair and Park Board, according to Leon Meyer, park manager.

“We’ll sit down next week,” he said, “and if the board says it’s a go, we’ll do it.”

Meyer said he estimates that about 7,000 to 8,000 people attended this year’s event, but real numbers will take some time to come in. “The pre-sale ticket totals aren’t back in yet.”

Meyer said the weather played a factor in the number of people who attended.

The rain also put a damper on several planned performances, including those at the Globe of Death and the Psychogang Thrill Riders.
