Colorado Springs, CO — Former Clearfield High School standout Brad Pataky will be traveling this week to Colorado Springs, CO to represent Penn State University in the FILA Jr. World Team Trials. The national event will take place on June 9 and 10 at the Olympic Training Center. Brad qualified for the trials by placing third in the 121# Class at the University Games at Northwestern University back on April 30th. Gomez, who had lost to Pataky at the prestigious Dapper Dan Classic last year, beat Pataky 3-0,5-0 in the semi-finals at Northwestern. The winner of these trials will be eligible to compete at the Junior World Championships in Turkey later this year. Pataky will be accompanied by fellow Penn Staters Dave Erwin and Phil Bomberger. The action can be followed on the wrestling website, www.theMat.com.
Clearfield High School was also represented recently at the Senior National Greco-Roman World Team Trials. Former 3-time PIAA state place-winner Tim Taylor, now representing the US Army was defeated in the quarterfinals by the eventual runner-up, Russ Davie of the New York Athletic Club. Taylor entered the event ranked #9 in the United States.
