BURNSIDE TWP., Pa. (EYT) — A Carrolltown man was cited late last month after his pickup truck traveled off the road and struck a tree in a Burnside Township crash, police say.
According to PSP Punxsutawney, the single-vehicle accident occurred at 5:50 a.m. on July 29, on Byers Road near Rorabaugh Road in Burnside Township, Clearfield County.
Troopers say that Nicholas Z. Barrett, 22, of Carrolltown, was driving a 2008 Dodge Ram 1500 pickup truck eastbound on Byers Road when he attempted to negotiate a right-hand curve in the roadway.
Police reported that Barrett was unable to make the turn and continued traveling straight, crossing into the oncoming lane of travel. The Dodge then exited the left side of the road and traveled into a wooded area, where it struck a tree head-on.
Barrett was wearing his seat belt at the time of the collision and was not injured, according to police.
The truck sustained disabling damage in the impact and was towed from the scene by Scott’s Towing.
Troopers cited Barrett for operating a vehicle without a valid inspection, according to the report.
