Bigler., Pa. — Fresh strawberries, live music, youth sports, family games and community spirit will take center stage June 27-28 as the annual Strawberry Festival returns with two days of entertainment and activities for all ages.
This year’s festival carries special significance as organizers join communities across the nation in celebrating the 250th anniversary of the United States, commemorating the nation’s founding in 1776.
The family-friendly event promises a packed schedule featuring great food, live entertainment, sporting events, vendors and fundraising activities, all benefiting the Bradford Township Summer Playground Program.
Festivalgoers can enjoy a variety of strawberry-themed treats and food options, including the traditional favorite of strawberries topped with whipped cream. Organizers say there will be something for everyone throughout the weekend.
Music will be a major attraction, with local performers taking the stage both days. Joe Quick will perform from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, while Nothing Fancy will provide entertainment from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday. Festival organizers are encouraging residents to bring lawn chairs and enjoy the live performances.
Youth baseball will also be featured during the festival. The 11-12 Clearfield Major Playoff is scheduled for Saturday, while the 9-10 Clearfield Minor Playoff will take place Sunday. Game times and schedules will be announced at a later date.
Sports enthusiasts can also participate in a 3-on-3 outdoor volleyball tournament. Teams must register in advance, with a registration fee of $25 per player.
In addition to the sports competitions, families will find plenty of activities for children, including games and a dunk tank. Festival organizers hope the attractions will create a fun and memorable experience for visitors of all ages.
The event will also feature numerous vendors located inside the gym, offering shopping opportunities and showcasing products and services from area businesses and organizations.
Fundraising activities are expected to be a highlight of the weekend. Attendees can purchase 50/50 raffle tickets, participate in a huge basket auction, and try their luck in a Chinese auction featuring prizes donated by local businesses and community members. Organizers noted that all drawing winners will be selected at 5 p.m. Sunday, June 28.
The Strawberry Festival has long served as a community gathering that brings together residents, local organizations and visitors from across the region. Beyond the food and entertainment, the event helps raise funds to support summer recreation opportunities for area youth through the Bradford Township Summer Playground Program.
With strawberries, music, sports and family activities all on the schedule, organizers are inviting the public to come out and celebrate both a cherished local tradition and the nation’s milestone 250th birthday.
