HYDE — The Clearfield Lady Bison celebrated nine seniors on Tuesday afternoon at the Bison Sports Complex by defeating the Lady Owls of Bradford by a final score of 19-4.
Seven of those seniors combined for 15 of the 16 hits in the win.
Clearfield raised their record to 7-8 on the year, while Bradford dropped to 1-12.
The visitors actually took an early lead, plating a run in the top of the first inning on the strength of a 2-out solo homerun to left by Alexis Kicior, only to have the home squad answer with a 5-spot in the home half of the first to take a lead they would never relinquish.Â
The Lady Bison then scored eight runs in the second inning to blow it open, and then scored six more in the third inning to invoke the 15-run Mercy Rule after Bradford had narrowed the gap to 13-4 in the top of the third inning.
Seniors Raigan Uncles and Aevril Hayward led the offensive onslaught with four hits apiece. Other multi-hit games were made by seniors Hailey Miles and Megan Wisor with two each. Uncles and Miles had the lone extra base hits for Clearfield with doubles. Uncles also scored four times, and Miles led the team with three runs batted in.
Wisor picked up the win, throwing all three innings, giving up three earned runs and recording six strikouts against zero walks.
Weather permitting, the Lady Bison will host District 9 rival St. Marys (8-6) on Wednesday for their third game of the week, with games scheduled Thursday and Friday as well.
