Vada M. (Hilliard) Moore, age 86, of Brookville, PA, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 4, 2026, at McKinley Health Center in Brookville, PA.
Vada was born in Young Twp., Indiana Co., PA, on December 21, 1939, to the late Charles F. and N. Ruth (Carrier) Hilliard.
Vada graduated from Redbank Valley High School in New Bethlehem, PA with the class of 1958.
Vada worked as a nurse’s aide at the PA Memorial Home in Brookville, PA, and also at other nursing homes over the years, such as Ivy Lane Personal Care Home, Woodland Heights, and the Pine Hill Estate, in addition to housecleaning for many years.
Vada married her true love, Frank B. Moore on June 18, 1960, in New Bethlehem, PA.
They were married for nineteen years, while raising their two daughters together.
He preceded her in death in 1979.
Vada was a member of the Pilgrim of Holiness Church in Strattanville, PA.
Vada was always a diligent person who always put in extra effort and her favorite leisure activity was going for walks.
She enjoyed walking everywhere.
Vada dearly loved her children and grandchildren.
Her faith, determination, and compassion will continue to guide her loved ones every day, and she will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
Vada is survived by two daughters; Shirley A. (Tim) Sloniger of Timblin, PA and Wanda R. (Barry) Poland of Georgetown, PA; four grandsons; Jason Sloniger, Jordan Sloniger, Luke Poland, and Brock Poland; one sister; Dorothy Shaffer of Brookville, PA; and one brother; Paul Hilliard of Tennessee.
In addition to her parents and husband Frank, Vada was preceded in death by her siblings; Robert Hilliard, Hazel Stuart, Ralph Hilliard, and Ronald Hilliard.
Family and friends will be received on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, from 2 – 4 pm and 6 – 8 pm at the Carrier Funeral Home, 2834 Maplevale, Rd., Brookville, PA 15825.
A second viewing will take place on Thursday, May 7, 2026, from 10 – 11 am, also at the funeral home.
A funeral service will be held immediately following the viewing beginning at 11:00 am.
Interment will take place privately at the Coolspring Cemetery, Oliver Twp., Jefferson Co., PA.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Carrier Funeral Home, 2834 Maplevale, Rd., Brookville, PA 15825.
Memorial contributions may be made in Vada’s name to the McKinley Health Center c/o Memory Unit, 133 Laurelbrooke Dr., Brookville, PA 15825.
