JEFFERSON CO. Pa. (EYT) — Pennsylvania State Police in Punxsutawney are investigating several unrelated incidents across Jefferson County, including a reported scam, a harassment case, and a DUI involving underage individuals.
Henderson Township Scam Investigation
State police are investigating a theft by deception incident reported on May 2 along Sykesville Troutville Road in Henderson Township. According to the report, a 74-year-old Punxsutawney man told police his computer had been hacked. The victim was then scammed out of $1,000 after sending Sephora gift cards to the suspect. The investigation remains ongoing.
Pine Creek Township Harassment Case
Troopers also reported a Children and Youth referral that led to an investigation in Pine Creek Township. According to police, the referral was received May 1 regarding an incident that occurred along Route 322. The case involves a 9-year-old boy from Brookville and is being investigated as harassment. No further details were released.
Underage DUI Arrest in Bell Township
In a separate incident, state police reported an underage DUI case stemming from a traffic stop on April 3 along Cloe Rossiter Road in Bell Township. Police said a vehicle was stopped for a summary traffic violation, and further investigation determined the operator, a 19-year-old from Punxsutawney, was under the influence of alcohol. A 17-year-old passenger from Reynoldsville was also found to be intoxicated. Both individuals are expected to face charges filed through the district court, according to police.
