DUBOIS, Pa.– The DuBois Vocal Arts Ensemble will present A Tribute To Mothers, their annual Spring Concert, on Saturday, May 9, 2026, at 7:00 p.m. in the Paul G. Reitz Theater which is located at 36 East Scribner Avenue in DuBois.
The 18-member vocal ensemble which is comprised of twelve women and six men will perform a variety of songs to honor mothers. DVAE will open the program with a worshipful setting of “For the Beauty of the Earth” with music by John Leavitt. Other musical selections will include “Ave Maria” (Angelus Domini) by Franz Biebl from the Chanticleer Choral Series, “Arirang” (Mother of Mine) sung in Korean by the DVAE Women, “Sing Your Way Home” sung by the DVAE Men, “When Memory Fades” arranged by Eric Nelson and the sentimental classic song by the Beatles, “In My Life.”
Also featured in the concert will be some choral selections from “Beautiful: The Carole King Musical,” Paul Simon’s “Bridge Over Troubled Water,” Rodgers and Hammerstein’s “Climb Ev’ry Mountain” from The Sound of Music and “Anthem” from the Broadway musical Chess. Audience Sing-a-long songs will include “Home, Sweet Home” and “M-O-T-H-E-R.” DVAE will conclude the concert with their traditional closer, “The Lord Bless You and Keep You” which includes the “Irish Blessing.” The DuBois Vocal Arts Ensemble is also honored to perform a setting of Isaac Watt’s “Cradle Hymn” composed by former DVAE member Drew Bundy.
Members of DVAE include the following singers: Soprano I – Diane Kennard, Cathy Shank and Julie Smith; Soprano II – Jennifer Gontero, Kathy Ellenberger and Penny LaBorde; Alto I – Kristen Knarr, Sally Knarr and Rikki Ross; Alto II – Brianna Cooney, Karen Fuller and Sally Laux; Tenor – Luke Crawford, Len Floran and Victor Kosko; and Bass – Joshua Orner, Joseph Shupienis and Don Wojtaszek. Eloise Kosko is the Director for the DuBois Vocal Arts Ensemble. Piano Accompanists will include Eloise Kosko, Sally Laux and Melissa Shepler.
Other instrumental accompanists will be Edna Bloom on Flute, Melissa Shepler and Jennifer Keith on Clarinet, Brianna Cooney on Tenor Saxophone, Rich Fisherowski on Trumpet, Joe Sensor on Trombone, Evelyn Bloom and Stefanie Penvose on Violin, Lydia Crooks on Cello, Jacob Penvose on Keyboard, William Penvose on Drum Set and Jonny Keen on Percussion. Joe Shupienis is in charge of Media for the DVAE website (dvae.org) and Tracey Dusch is the CRI Administrator for the Reitz Theater.
