SNYDER TWP., Pa. (EYT) — A Brockway woman faces several criminal charges after she allegedly crashed her vehicle into a Jefferson County home while under the influence of alcohol and drugs.

According to the criminal complaint, state police responded to a report of a one-vehicle rollover crash on February 20 at approximately 11:04 p.m. at a residence on Kearney Road. The complaint said a 2012 Jeep Patriot struck the southern corner of the house and damaged the porch. The vehicle was found on its driver side near a creek down a steep embankment. Police said the airbags had deployed and the roof was pushed in.

According to the affidavit of probable cause, a man, his wife, and two young children were inside the residence at the time of the crash. The homeowner told police he was about to sleep when he heard a “boom.” He said his wife told him the porch “exploded.” The children were upstairs sleeping when the incident occurred, the complaint stated.

The complaint said 36-year-old Kelsi Marlene Alderton told troopers she swerved to miss a deer while traveling 40 mph. Alderton admitted to having one drink an hour before the crash. Police noted the smell of alcohol on her breath and person and observed slurred speech, according to the complaint.

Toxicology results from a blood draw showed Alderton had a BAC of 0.161%, according to the complaint. The affidavit said laboratory tests also confirmed the presence of marijuana and methamphetamine in her system.

According to court records, Alderton is charged with the following:

  • Recklessly Endangering Another Person, Misdemeanor 2 (four counts)
  • DUI/Unsafe Driving, Misdemeanor
  • DUI/BAC .16% or Greater, Misdemeanor
  • Driving Under Influence of Alcohol/Controlled Substance, Misdemeanor (two counts)
  • Reckless Driving, Summary
  • Careless Driving, Summary
  • Six additional summary traffic violations

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for April 28 at 11:30 a.m. before Magisterial District Judge David B. Inzana.
