CLEARFIELD – District Attorney Ryan Sayers and Acting CEO of CenClear / Former Director of the Child Advocacy Center of Clearfield County Dr. Mary Tatum wish to inform the public that April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month.
This month and throughout the year, the Clearfield County District Attorney’s Office, CenClear, and the Clearfield County Child Advocacy Center (CAC-CC) encourage all individuals and organizations to make Clearfield County a better place for children and families. Clearfield County citizens can achieve this by ensuring that parents/guardians have the appropriate educational foundation for parenting, knowledge of child development, parental resilience, social connections, and concrete support. Research shows that when parents/guardians possess these tools, then the risk for neglect and abuse diminishes.
“April is a time when groups and organizations use their collective efforts to help raise awareness about child abuse, inform ways that it can be prevented, and emphasize what role each of us play in protecting children,” DA Sayers stated. “We can help create safer communities for children and Child Abuse Prevention Month is one way that we can achieve that goal.”
This year, CenClear and the CAC-CC are asking community members to wear blue during Child Abuse Prevention Month. You are encouraged to get your picture wearing blue throughout the month of April to show support. After you take your photo you can send it or share it to the CAC-CC’s Facebook page with your name, and the CAC-CC will post it. “Child Abuse Prevention Month is a time of year that we bring this vital topic to the public and encourage the community to get involved,” said Dr. Tatum.
Additionally, CenClear is hosting its Annual Child Abuse Prevention Carnival on April 11, 2026, from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the CenClear Administrative Building in Bigler. There will be games and activities for children to participate in, while parents/caregivers will have the opportunity to learn about valuable resources in their community.

The CAC-CC is part of the Clearfield County Multi-Disciplinary Investigative Team (MDIT) that is comprised of the Clearfield County District Attorney’s Office, Pennsylvania State Police (PSP) Clearfield, PSP DuBois, PSP Punxsutawney, DuBois City Police Department, Sandy Township Police Department, Clearfield Regional Police Department, Curwensville Borough Police Department, Bigler Township Police Department, Clearfield Children, Youth, and Family Services, Community Action Inc.’s Crossroads Project, Passages, Inc., the Office of Victim Witness, CenClear, and John Bacher, CRNP. This team of people work with child victims and their families from the initial report of abuse throughout the criminal justice process and after.
