REYNOLDSVILLE- As Hummingbird Speedway prepares to launch its 2026 racing season, the Caltagarone family is proud to announce that Brian Nestor has been appointed as the speedway’s new Program Director.
In this role, Nestor will coordinate the management of the racing program alongside the track’s official staff, helping ensure that race night operations run smoothly while preserving the family-oriented, grassroots atmosphere that has long defined Hummingbird Speedway.
“Maintaining the welcoming environment our racers, teams, and fans value is extremely important to us, and Brian will be a crucial part of continuing that tradition,” the Caltagarone family said.
Nestor brings valuable experience and a deep passion for racing to the position. He is no stranger to the speedway world, having worked at several different tracks over the years. His journey in motorsports began humbly, doing cleanup work at the track. “I always wanted to work at a speedway,” Nestor said. “You need to start somewhere. Why not the bottom?” From there, he advanced into the role of corner flagman, a position he has held for the past five years while building a strong reputation for dedication, consistency, and clear communication.
Safety and professionalism remain top priorities for Hummingbird Speedway, and Nestor’s values align closely with those of the entire track staff.
“Brian shares our commitment to providing a top-notch racing program for our fans and competitors, and we are confident he will be a strong fit for this position,” the family added.
And while his responsibilities have changed, Nestor hasn’t forgotten where he started. “Yes, I still clean up the garbage,” he joked — though the speedway notes that will not be part of his official duties.
The 2026 season will also mark a significant and emotional milestone for Hummingbird Speedway, as it
will be the first season in track history without founder Louie Caltagarone actively involved in operations. Louie built the speedway in 1964 and remained a constant presence in its day-to-day ac vi es, even into his 90s.
The Caltagarone family is proud to con nue the legacy he established more than six decades ago.
“Louie’s passing last year obviously le a huge hole in our hearts. He will be missed greatly, and we hope to make him proud as we move forward while honoring everything he built here.”
“Please join us in welcoming Brian Nestor to his new role and wishing him success as he begins this next
chapter at Hummingbird Speedway.”
