CLEARFIELD – A Grampian man is facing additional charges after police investigating a case of sexual abuse, found numerous illegal images on his electronic devices.
Devin John Moore, 38, was charged with 22 counts of sexual abuse of children on Feb. 18. He was scheduled for a preliminary hearing Wednesday during centralized court, but his case was continued until May 13.
He posted $75,000 bail through a bail bondsman on Feb. 19.
The criminal complaint details how police were called to investigate a report of both physical and sexual abuse from two female juveniles. All his electronic devices were seized and sent for analysis at a police crime lab and was returned in Feb.
Police say they discovered 22 images of “prepubescent children in a state of nudity. These images depicted both male and female children. Seven of the images contained female children engaged in a sexual act with an adult male. The estimated age of these female children was six to 12 years of age,” according to the affidavit of probable cause.
Moore is already charged with 2,840 different offenses related to his long-term abuse of a young girl. This includes 500 felony counts of indecent assault person less than 13-years-old, 780 counts each of corruption of minors (felonies), endangering the welfare of children (felonies) and indecent assault person less than 16-years-old (misdemeanors). For this case, he posted $500,00 which was also posted through a bail bondsman. His bail was originally set at $1,000,000 but was lowered in Aug.
According to the affidavit in the abuse case, the victim said she was first inappropriately touched by Moore when she was in fourth grade and continued to be abused through her ninth-grade year.
Moore’s wife, Sara Moore, allegedly became aware of his actions and reportedly drew up a written contract with Moore stating he promised to stop sexually touching the girl. Both victims said the “contract” was in a locked box in Moore’s bedroom. Police were unable to locate it.
For her part in his crimes, Sara Moore is charged with five felony counts of endangering the welfare of a child and five misdemeanor counts of endangering the welfare of a child. She is free on $50,000 unsecured bail.
Both Sara and Devin Moore are scheduled for criminal call on Thursday on the original charges.
