CLARION — 2013 Clearfield Area High School graduate Nolan Barger was inducted into the District 9 Wrestling Hall of Fame on Saturday, February 21 prior to the District 9 Wrestling Championships at Clarion University.
In high school, Barger was a three time District 9 AAA champion, was a 2013 Northwest Regional champion, was a three time state qualifier, and placed fourth at the PIAA State Championships at 145 pounds his senior year. His high school career record was 127-29.
He then continued his wrestling career collegiately at Lycoming College, where he became Lycoming’s only three-time NCAA Division II All-American, placing third twice and sixth once, finishing with a career record of 139-28.
He was an ECWC champion in 2014, Mid-East Regional champion in 2015, and a MAC champ in 2016.
He was also a four-time National Wrestling Coaches Association Scholar All-American all four years of college.
Barger was the 2016 Lycoming College Male Athlete of the Year, and was inducted into the Lycoming College Athletics Hall of Fame in 2022.
He his currently a varsity assistant coach at Clearfield.
