CLEARFIELD – A Curwensville woman will be spending up to 13 years in state prison for selling drugs in the area.

Melissa Renea Woodling, 36, was arrested after a search warrant was executed on her home on March 17, following after an investigation into the distribution of controlled substances that began in June 2024.

While she was free on bail in that case, she sold methamphetamine twice to a confidential informant in June. On Sept. 10 after a traffic stop, police found she had a large amount of methamphetamine and other drugs.

The original plea in three of the cases was for only a 36-month sentence. President Judge Paul E. Cherry stated three years was “not acceptable” because it was outside the sentencing guidelines and noted one case alone could have a 36-month sentence.

After speaking with his client, her attorney, Paul Clavecchi said she would accept the longer sentence.

Woodling was sentenced to a total of six to 13 years in state prison with one year consecutive re-entry probation.

She pleaded guilty to possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance and related offenses in four cases and misdemeanor possession of a controlled substance with summaries in her fifth case.

The criminal complaint regarding the search of her Curwensville home details how the troopers found “in plain view methamphetamine spread out on a table” and packaging materials. They also reportedly found a plastic bag that contained suspected methamphetamine already packaged for sale.

Loose methamphetamine was found in a small silver pan and more in plastic containers on the kitchen table, according to the affidavit.

In Woodling’s purse they found a small container of methamphetamine, over $600 in cash and an owe sheet with names and dollar amounts on it.

Police say a scale, several cell phones, bulk packaging materials, unknown white pills, additional owe sheets, and containers of marijuana were also located in the residence.

In October, her co-defendant in that case, Jason Lee Guthrie, 44, was sentenced by Cherry to time served (223 days) to one year in the county jail for felony possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance-methamphetamine. He must also serve three years concurrent probation.

According to the affidavits of probable cause in the drug sale cases, on June 25 the Attorney General Drug Task Force learned from the informant that he/she could purchase methamphetamine from Woodling at her Curwensville residence.

The informant was taken to the home where he/she entered the and reportedly purchased 15.1 grams of the substance for $250, while agents were posted outside.

Later that same day, the informant contacted Woodling again about buying more of the drug.

Woodling said she sold the rest of her supply and would have to go to West Decatur to get more. After she obtained the substance, they arranged to meet in Clearfield Borough near the intersection of East Locust and North Third Streets.

Once there, the informant got into a car driven by Woodling and reportedly purchased 28.4 grams of methamphetamine for $600.

According to the affidavit of probable cause related to the traffic stop, because officers were suspicious of both Woodling and the driver, they sent for a K-9 officer. After he arrived, the dog alerted to the presence of controlled substances around the car. The vehicle was then seized and transported to the Clearfield Regional Police Department.

Later, a search warrant was executed on the vehicle with police finding 112.5 grams of methamphetamine, 8.2 grams of cocaine, buprenorphine and naloxone film valued at $160, 2.4 grams of fentanyl, a glass container with approximately 35 grams of fentanyl, and drug paraphernalia in her black bag, according to the report.
