WASHINGTON TWP., Pa. (EYT) — A commercial truck jackknifed Friday morning along Interstate 80 in Washington Township after the driver lost control of the vehicle, according to Pennsylvania State Police in DuBois.
Troopers said the crash occurred at approximately 10:03 a.m. on February 6 along Interstate 80 westbound near the 90-mile marker in Washington Township, Jefferson County.
Police identified the driver as Nurbek Berdikulov, 40, of Maineville, Ohio. Troopers said Berdikulov was operating a 2020 Freightliner Cascadia under a posted speed restriction of 45 miles per hour at the time of the crash.
According to police, Berdikulov was driving too fast for conditions and lost control of the vehicle, causing it to travel off the south side of the road and strike an embankment. The vehicle then jackknifed, resulting in substantial damage to the driver’s side tractor and passenger-side trailer.
Police reported Berdikulov was wearing a seat belt and was not injured.
According to the report, Berdikulov was cited for failure to drive on roadways laned for traffic.
Assisting at the scene were Amserv Ltd. DuSan Ambulance, Falls Creek Volunteer Fire Department, Bigler Boyz Towing, and PennDOT.
