PENFIELD – Several activities have been planned at Parker Dam State Park for February.
Saturday, February 7:
Cross-country Ski Basics, 10 a.m. – meet in EE Classroom
Learn the basics of cross-country skiing using the park’s XC ski equipment. Call the park office to reserve your spot and provide us with your shoe size. 814-765-0630. Program is snow-dependent.
Ice Skating Basics, 1 p.m. – meet at Beach House
Learn the basics of ice skating—no experience or equipment needed. If you have always wanted to try ice skating, but were unsure (and didn’t have ice skates) – now is your chance. Use a pair of the park’s many ice skates and learn the basics out on the ice with park staff. No excuses.
Saturday, February 14:
Stories in the Snow, 1 p.m. – meet in front of Park Office
One of the reasons that I love snow is the stories it records. We will take a walk looking for tracks and see what stories we can sort out. Program is snow-dependent.
Skate With Your Sweetheart, 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Ice Rink
Looking for something special to do with your sweetheart on Valentine’s Day? Why not go ice skating at your favorite state park? Bring your own skates or rent a pair of the park’s skates (sizes and quantities may be limited). And, of course, bring your own sweetheart ;).
