NEW BETHLEHEM — The Golden Tide wrestling team racked up eight falls (seven pins and one tech) in a convincing 50-22 victory over Redbank Valley.

The visiting Tide jumped all over the Bulldogs to start the dual, getting pins from Kael McGary (107), Russell Bloom (114) and Javon Bunce (127) and a 9-4 decision by Hayden Queen (121) to roll to a 21-0 lead.

McGary, who improved to 20-9, stopped Colton Buzard (12-11) with one second left in the first period, while Bunce (11-17) needed just 55 seconds to deck Jaxon McKinney, who brought a 15-11 record into the match.

Bloom (17-10) pinned Corbin Summerville (19-8) in 3:32 in the marquee matchup of the night.

After falling behind 21-0, the Bulldogs came storming back with consecutive pins from Gabe Clinger (133), Brandon Smith (139) and Tristan Johnston (145) to cut the deficit to just three (21-18).

But Tide 152-pounder Cooper Haag (13-14) put a halt to the Redbank Valley momentum with a pin of Jordan Titus (12-16) at 2:32 and Reed Hawkins and Tim Gustafson followed suit with consecutive falls for the Tide to make it 39-18. Hawkins (20-9) stopped Grant Shoemaker (14-13) at 3:35, while Gustafson (15-13) needed just eight seconds to pin Gavin Rodriguez.

Bulldog 189-pounder Jordan Smith picked up his 31st win of the season against just seven losses with a 10-2 major decision over Heath Hawkins (189) before the Tide’s Caleb and Brooks Hendershot closed out the meet with two more falls.

Caleb Hendershot (7-6) piled up 15 points in a 15-0 technical fall over Devon Weckerly at 215, while Brooks Hendershot (25-9) pinned Bailey Bowser (9-10) in 1:17 to set the final.

With the win, Curwensville evened its dual meet record at 9-9. Redbank Valley fell to 11-7.
