ALLPORT — The Curwensville girls basketball team got out to an 18-0 lead over West Branch on Tuesday evening and rolled to a 40-14 victory to sweep the season series with the Lady Warriors.
The game was played at West Branch due to heating issues at Curwensville High School.
The Lady Tide racked up 26 steals in the game, getting six apiece from Abby Covert and Briah Peoples, and five by Addison Warren.
Steals led to the first two Curwensville buckets with Jovee Elensky draining a three to finish off a fast break at 4:23 of the first and Peoples converting another at 2:30. A Jayda Gaul offensive rebound and putback with 55 seconds left in the first made it 7-0.

Peoples led the Lady Tide with 14 points and corralled eight rebounds.
Elensky nailed her second trey of the game moments later and Peoples connected on 1 of 2 free throws with 3:08 left in the half to make it 18-0.
The Lady Warriors got on the board with 2:11 left in the first half on a pair of free throws by Issabella Kerfoot.
Curwensville led 20-3 at the half and extended the advantage to 28-3 before West Branch hit its first field goal of the game with just 20 seconds left in the third quarter.
West Branch drilled a pair of treys early in the fourth, sandwiching 3s from Bella Nelson and Nola Briscoe around one by Curwensville’s Ella McCracken to make the score 31-12 with 6:05 to go in the game.
After a field goal by Lady Warrior Lilly Dale made it 31-14, Curwensville’s Lucy Tkacik scored seven straight points before Peoples finalized the scoring with an offensive rebound and putback in the waning seconds.
