HUNTINGDON — The Clearfield Lady Bison wrestling team finished the dual meet part of their season undefeated at 4-0 on Wednesday night, pinning a 40-9 loss on the host Lady Bearcats.
Out of the eight contested matches, the Lady Bison picked up six falls and a major decision, while only losing one bout.
Huntingdon actually got out to the early lead as there was no match at 100, and Emily Water (7-8) received a forfeit at 106.
112 pounder Ashley Rougeux (19-5) evened the match score at sixes with a third period pin over Shyanna Brandt (14-10) after holding a slim 9-6 lead at the time of the fall.
The Lady Bearcats took their second, and final, lead of the night when Kendyl Wilson (13-9) at 118 scored a late takedown to earn a comeback win 5-3 over Gabbie Duncan (11-10).
Ivy Sanders (16-9) gave the visitors a lead they would never relinquish at 124 when she pinned Lady Bearcat Candyce Hoover (1-5) in 1:16.
The Lady Bison lead was doubled to 18-9 at 130 when Angela Rougeux (17-7) needed 3:30 to pin Noelle Rasmovicz (16-7). Rasmovicz was leading 11-6 when she got taken down and pinned.
Margaret Duke (5-9) at 136 had the lone Lady Bison win that went the distance as the picked up an 11-0 shutout major decision over Maggie Linn (3-13). Duke led 7-0 after the opening two minutes of action then cruised to the bonus point win, making the score 22-9.
After no contest at 142, Alara Quickel (12-7), pictured below, wasted no time, picking up a 40 second fall at 148 against Lucianna McCall (12-10) to make it 28-9.
The number four ranked wrestler in the state at 155, Makayla Taylor (14-5) of Clearfield was even quicker with her fall, a 30 second bout with Lillian Castline (5-10).
There was no match at 170 or 235, but 190 pounder Jocelyn Nixon (13-6), pictured below, closed out the match for the Lady Bison with their third consecutive first period fall as she needed 58 seconds to deck Rylee Byerly (2-9) to set the final at 40-9.
The Lady Bison will close out their regular season when they attend the Southern Huntingdon tournament on Saturday February 7.
Clearfield also won the Junior High dual meet 33-12.
